Eczema in children is a common skin condition and it can be disheartening to see your child constantly agitated or upset. In fact, their only natural reaction is to scratch the affected areas but this will only worsen symptoms or spread infectious bacteria. The following is an effective baby eczema treatment and 3 tips to providing relief for your child while reducing itching and swelling.

1. Apply ointments immediately after a bath or shower

Dry skin will cause even more irritation which will lead to scratching so keeping the skin moisturized regular is essential to reducing symptoms. Following a bath, apply moisturizers on your baby’s skin and throughout the day so moisture does not escape. Studies have shown that those ointments that contain herbals ingredients such as aloe vera help a great deal to reduce irritation.

2. Stay away from allergens and irritants

The cause of eczema is still largely unknown but there are certain types of allergens and irritants which may trigger symptoms so be sure to avoid them. Every individual is different so these can range from different types of foods and even certain kinds of shampoos or soaps. Be sure to also stay away from uncomfortable clothing for your child or harsh environments such as extremely cold weather.

3. Use over the counter treatments

You will need to take a more aggressive approach if symptoms continue to worsen so be sure to use over the counter treatments. Those creams or ointments that contain cortisone are often recommended but should be used in moderation. In addition, antihistamine tablets are effective at reducing the itching sensation but it’s important to consult with a doctor prior to using them.

One thing to note if your child has eczema is that most cases will disappear before the child reaches their teenage years. These methods described above are an effective eczema treatment for children so be sure to keep their skin moisturized and to steer clear from allergens and irritants which may be triggering such outbreaks.

Children don’t care about economics, except when it means that their lifestyle has to change. This is usually a matter of wanting things to stay busy. During an economy crisis, it may seem nearly impossible to keep your child entertained with the high prices of toys and with all of the marketing that companies do to make your kids want to beg for the latest and greatest stuff. But, it is possible. Despite going through an economy crisis, here are 3 easy ways to satisfy your children without stretching out your budget:

Make fun stuff out of recyclable items! If your family eats cereal or uses juice boxes, then you should have more than enough supplies to have some recycling fun! Work along with your child to turn those boxes into cities that they can plan, build, and decorate. A little color from markers, crayons, and old newspaper or gift wrap can go a long way when it comes to sprucing up a newly built box “city”. You can also add an interactive element by making a trip to the dollar store to buy for cheap those little action figures, die cast cars, and trucks.

Teach them a craft! A fabulous way to not only have a good time with your child, but also to use the time in a constructive way is to teach your child a craft or learn one together. During this economy crisis, people are looking for more ways to save on little things and by doing craft projects, your family could do just that. From sewing potholders to crocheting scarves for the cold weather and knitting slippers, you and your child could make lots of stuff that your family could use. Frugal fashionistas should make an effort to buy for cheap the materials or use stuff that you have around the house. You will all be proud of your finished products and the saving that your family will experience because of them!

Find and use wacky frugal recipes for some real crazy times! One of the most fun, frugal recipes that you will find is the edible play dough recipe. Letting kids mix up a batch using items that you can buy for cheap like chocolate crme, confectioner’s sugar, peanut butter, and powdered milk will keep them busy and excited. Plus, you’ll also satisfy their need to snack while allowing them to explore their creative side! It’s a great time and it’s messy. Your kids will be very happy. But, most importantly, it won’t cost your family a lot of money during this economy crisis. Now that’s something to be happy about.

This economy crisis doesn’t have to hinder your family’s fun. Just use your creativity, take an inventory of possible “supplies” that you have around your house, and let your “handy” work be your play!
